Time and life!

I read Mandi's blog and it made me realize that I haven't posted anything on here in a while. I signed up on facebook and I've just been messing with it instead. Where does time go?? I can't believe that it has been that long since I posted.

Let's see, mom found out she had a brain aneurysm. Thank God we found it before it ruptured or anything. She had experimental surgery in St. Louis and so far everything is looking good. She could have lost her eyesight if she had done the normal procedure for aneurysms.

Last weekend the whole countryside was on fire I think. Most of them centered around my house. We were lucky. I wasn't so much worried about my house as I was worried about mom's house. After daddy died, she could afford to keep insurance on the house. She was in St Louis at the time all the fires were going on. They sent the forestry dept in from Eastern OK and they lit fires all around the houses to let the fireback burn so that the houses would be protected. It was a stressful couple of days though. We had wildfires on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and then Saturday night it started raining. We desperately needed the rain, but it smelled like a wet ash tray around here : ( Here's some pics.

I had started this project a few weeks ago. I originally seen this project on the close to my heart website. I've had some of their true fit folio's for a while and have been wanting to make one of these. Close to My Heart doesn't have much in the line of doggy papers, so I had these from another kit I had bought one time. I thought this turned out cute. I stamped the front cover. I have tons of dog embellishments. Anyway, there are four tags on the inside that all come out and have different pictures or sayings on them. Oh yeah, and try to ignore all the clutter in the background of my one picture. LOL

Taking control of your life

Do you ever just wake up one day and try to figure out what in the world has happened to your body? How can you gain weight so quickly and never really notice until all the sudden one day your pants are so tight you have to go buy a new pair because you can't wear any of your old ones? I wasn't quite to that point yet, but was getting close. I decided I have to take back control of myself. It's so easy to just let yourself spiral out of control. Not just weight wise, but just with life in general. We seem to get so wrapped up in the daily routine of life that we forget to remember who we are as individuals. You're a wife, a mother, a sister, a friend. You have a million different identities, but you're no longer an individual. I'm not saying that it's bad to be all these other things, but you do have to maintain a little of yourself and remember who you are and what makes you who you are.

Christmas Program

My daughter Danielle goes to Fox school. Fox is a very small school. It's the same school I went to. As a matter of fact, we had several of the same teachers. Fox has about 500 students Kindergarden- 12th grade....or at least it did when I went there. Anyway, I digress. The band teacher that they've had for the past several years has been real bad about doing Christmas programs during the day, but not repeating the program in the evenings. For some reason this year, he pulled his head out of his ass...err butt and actually had one in the evenings. I mean really, they want to gripe because parents aren't involved in what their kids do at school, but then they want to do things during the day when parents can't be involved. The Christmas program was really cute. My two nieces Kimberly and Kristina were in it too. They're the ones on the right hand page. Kristina is in the top picture on the right hand page. Kristina was was very animated to say the least. LOL

Christmas 2005

Well, I guess you can guess that I don't scrapbook in order either. I have a ton of pics that I am behind on. I tend to end up doing stuff that is more current. I don't know why it's so hard to go back and do the older pics. I procrastinate on Christmas pics too for some reason. Christmas is absolutely my favorite holiday though. I think the reason I struggle with them is because my sister in law and I do a scrapbook for my mom for Christmas every year and I always end up doing Christmas pages for her book and then I'm too burnt out to do them for my book. If I was smart, I would just take them to Staples or something after I'm done with hers and make a copy for my own book so I'm not having to do them twice.

Birthday LO

I've been threatening to post some scrapbook LO's, so here we go!! They're going to be in three separate posts. These are LO's I did weekend before last when my friend Mandi and I went to TX to scrapbook at a lady's house. Her name is Susan and she's a great hostess! We had a great time and I got 3 LO's done and then I made some cards. This is of my birthday and my niece's birthday. Our birthday's are on the same day. I shared my birthday with my Grandma Ward. She was born August 25, 1900. I always remember growing up, we would have our family reunions in the summer time and at every family reunion, Grandma always had a cake and everyone would always talk about her birthday and I always thought, "yeah, but what about mine? I was born on the same day!" LOL She was just a little older than me and had a little more to celebrate I guess.

Maggie

This is my puppy Maggie. Well, okay, she's not much of a puppy anymore. We had lost two dogs and Cory and I both knew that we wanted another dog. Cory got a Jack Russel. I did a lot of research on what kind of dog I wanted before I actually picked a breed. I looked at Great Dane's, but they have so many health problems. I thought about getting another Rottweiler. I had one when I was a teenager that I got from my uncle. A trip to the animal shelter changed my mind though. I seen a solid white boxer, but his card said that he wasn't good with kids or other pets, so I knew he wasn't the dog for us. I started watching the paper for boxers. I looked in the Sunday Oklahoman and I seen an ad for boxers and it said they had some white ones. I called the lady and I went up the next day. When Maggie came out I knew she was the dog for me. She was so adorable. She had a cute little half mask on her face and a few little spots that you can see in this picture. She is such an expressive dog and absolutely funny. She still thinks she's a lap dog though. I think she gets jealous because Cory's Jake Russell sits in his lap all the time, so she doesn't understand why she can't be up in my lap. I let her up in my lap and we cuddle up. I can't take her sitting on me for too long because she has a tendency to lay on my belly, or she lays on my legs too long and my legs go to sleep. I would get another boxer in a heartbeat though. I don't think any other dog will ever live up to my Maggie though :)

Super Bowl

Well, I guess I'm lucky. Cory is having to work tonight, so I don't have to watch the superbowl!! LOL I know there are women out there that are sports nuts, but I'm just not one of them. Don't get me wrong, I love to go to a HS football game and I can watch pro ball on TV. It doesn't bother me. I'm just not going to choose to watch it when I'm here by myself. If we had a group f friends that wanted to watch the game and was going to come over, I could get into watching it if there was a group of people. The game was on a while ago and I was sort of watching a little of it...more watching the commercials than anything. I did see a cute commercial that I liked. Mr and Mrs Potato head were driving in a convertible down the highway. Mrs Potato head kept griping about him driving too fast and her hair was getting messed up, then he came around a corner and she hollered "sheep" (because there was a herd of sheep standing in the middle of the road) and he slams on the brakes and her lips fall off down the cliff. She's staring at him and of course she can't say anything because she doesn't have lips, so she changes out her eyes and puts on her "angry eyes". LOL You really had to see it, but it was cute :)

Okay, here's my gripe about football. Some of the pentalties that they call. Holding....isn't that the whole purpose...keep the other guy from going anywhere with the ball?? Blocking...duhh...you're supposed to stop him once he gets the ball. Pass intereference....once again duhh, the whole idea is to keep someone from getting the ball. LOL Face mask penalties I understand because you could break someone's neck grabbing their helmet like that. Then there's the whole frustration that the penalties are called against one team, but then the other team can turn right around and do the same thing, but that penalty doesn't get called. It's the same way with HS ball though.

That's my thoughts on football. LOL

Thoughts

I'm really struggling with this blog. LOL I have a lot of thoughts that run through my mind constantly all day, but when it comes to putting them out there for someone else to read, I clam up. I took a personality test in college and found out that I am an extreme introvert. I had very few things in the extrovert category. Do I keep people at arms length? Or do I welcome people in to get to know them, but don't want them to get to know me? I guess I've always had a hard time with letting people inside my head. Sometimes I'm not sure if anyone really knows me because I keep so much in. It's just like my scrapbooking. I love to scrapbook, but I have a hard time with journaling. I can journal generally about an event...why we were there, what we did, but when it comes to my personal thoughts on something, that's very hard for me to put that out there. I'm going to try to get better at that.

crazy week

What a crazy week! At work we're getting ready for inventory and I work in the inventory department. Inventory will be next week. Thank God! And then all the craziness will be over.

I had to have surgery on my thumb on the 23rd of December. It was a complication from my motorcycle wreck I guess you could say. LOL Anyway, I had a pin sticking out of my thumb to help hold everything in place. Well, it got infected over the weekend. I called the DR on Monday and told him what was going on with it. He wanted me to have the pin removed because of the infection. He told me to call the Dr that referred me up there to him to see if he would remove it for me. That DR wouldn't remove it. I called our local minor emergency clinic and they wouldn't remove it either, so I had to drive to the city Monday when I got off work to have it removed. I was in and out in literally 5 minutes. DR's in Ardmore suck.

The next thing doesn't involve me, but how crazy. A woman I work with...we'll call her T for privacy sake, hit a man walking down the interstate this morning! He was walking down the middle of the interstate at 5 in the freakin' morning! She swerved in front of a semi and slammed on her brakes trying to keep from hitting the guy. She felt her truck hit him though. She was hysterical because she just knew that she had just killed someone. Long story short, she clipped him with her side mirror and just messed up his elbow a little bit. While she was sitting on the side of the road trying to collect herself, he walked up to her truck and told her he was okay! I know you couldn't do it,but I would be tempted to sue him for mental anguish or something. Can you imagine what you would feel like thinking that you had just killed someone?? I felt so sorry for her. I can't imagine what that would be like. She said here everyone at work has been worried about hitting deer or hogs and she has to worry about hitting a person!

Anyway, that's it for my crazy week so far. Hope nothing else happens tomorrow.

First Blog

Okay, don't know what I'm doing here, so you will just have to bear with me! LOL For those who don't know me, my name is Danette. I'm 36....pushing 40 real hard. That makes me feel so old to say that.

I've been married for almost 8 years now. I have a 15 year old daughter. She is a very good girl. She left her yahoo messenger connected and I got on the computer and got to being nosy with her stuff and I couldn't find anything. I'm so happy about that!

I have been a scrapbooker for...(counting)....5 years I think. I've been a close to my heart consultant now for 3 years. I just love their stuff. They make it so easy to scrapbook. Everything coordinates so beautifully and they have stuff for every skill level.

Like I said, I'm new to all of this, so be patient with me while I figure everything out.
